Carrying on the legacy

The recent passing of our dear friend, colleague and president of Ta-De, Robert (Bobby) Bennen, Jr., has left many in several communities in the U.S. and in Mexico grieving.  Here in Nogales, our grief is unshaken, yet we are encouraged by fond memories and the support of our colleagues and customers.

Importantly, this realization that life is indeed short and we must make the best of it has re-energized our team and motivated us to work harder and better to continue the legacy that began with Carlos Bennen more than 60 years ago.

With a reputation for uncompromising quality and ethics, Robert Bennen, Sr. carried the torch and passed it on to his only son Bob. (Read more on Our History page). Today, it is still very much a family business, one that has been recognized by its peers (Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, Pillar of the Industry Award) and continues to be synonymous with market-making brands.

It all began with tomatoes, evolved into green beans and other vegetables, and more recently branched out into new labels like El Rey, Red Lotus, and MaidenEarth: more than 35 SKUs that have captured the changing consumer and retailer imagination.

At the sales helm, 24-years industry veteran Joey Bernal, in his 13th year at Ta-De, continues to ensure the customer care the company is known for, while Quality Assurance and retail expert Jesus Clark packs loads that exceed expectations.

Senior management Robbie Sr. and Rosie Bennen continue to run the office and accounts details, while our growers have shown their commitment to ship their very best. Our office and warehouse team remains firmly in place and, in fact, has grown to meet our expanding volume.

In all, the Ta-De team is stronger than ever and ready to meet the challenges of today’s marketplace. We very much appreciate your support and business!

R.I.P. ,Bobby
